The long awaited upgrades to our touring line are here, and are being well received! Updated outfitting includes our Trackmaster Plus rudder system, toggle handles and new hatches, which feature our innovative lever-lock system.
Composite Hatch Covers with Recessed Lever Locks
Our new hatch cover lever locks take the mess of fumbling around with straps and buckles out of the equation when you want to load or unload your kayak. Both the forward and rear hatch covers have four recessed lever locks that are easily opened or closed with the finger tips or thumbs. The full carbon levers and composite hatch covers are tough, light and clam tight; Greg & Oscar designed them to withstand the pressures and turbulence of rough seas and breaking waves encountered by the expedition kayaker.

Full Carbon Day Hatch
The Epic Kayaks day hatch stands alone in the expedition kayak world: easy access, watertight and one-hand operation for the hinged carbon fiber lid. The hatch was designed to be a rugged, all conditions, watertight compartment, and features our new carbon lever lock for simple access and efficient operation. Simply reach behind the seat, unlock the lever, lift the lid and get what you need. The Epic day hatch is fully bulk headed and provides a generous secure hatch for your "must have" gear.

Hand Toggles
New bow and stern hand toggles, with secure deck elastics, are designed for a safe handhold in surf, or rough seas in the event of a wet exit. The toggles stretch beyond the bow and stern so if the kayak were to roll and spin, the paddler can hang on without risk of losing grip, or injury. The deck elastics also keep the toggle handles secure while car topping; preventing the handles from beating up your kayak at 70 mph down the highway!

Track Master Plus Rudder System
The highly anticipated 2nd version of our Track Master rudder system, the Track Master Plus, is rugged, supremely effective and simple to operate. The new rudder fin is significantly larger, and fully retractable: perfect for beach launching and landings. The TMP gives Epic sea kayaks the high performance and handling of our ocean racing surf skis, with the deep, large surface rudder blade giving incredible control, particularly in large following seas. Surf from wave to wave in the open sea, bays and lakes!
Operated with an up-haul line that fastens to a jam cleat, the TMP has no exposed deck wires or dangerous over-end blades. When the up-haul line is released, the spring loaded blade moves down into action. Shallow water and obstructions are not a problem: the blade pushes back up into the rudder housing, and moves back down into position once clear of obstruction.
With the blade fixed in the up position, the TMP unit is locked at the neutral setting, allowing you to paddle without a rudder/skeg, and preventing wobble while transporting.
